As a stereotypically poor driver, it wasn't a surprise when my car broke down on the side of the road today. x3Although sometimes I get frustrated with society, my region is indeed full of kind and thoughtful people. Despite the blizzard, seven people from four cars came out and helped me move it around a corner into a neighbor's driveway. The neighbor was very kind about letting me keep my car there until it gets towed away. Everyone offered a ride home. I was so thankful! ^___^ In New York there's no way something like that would've occurred; I'd most likely be stranded in the snow forever!
How kind and altruistic is your city?

I fail to see how your car breaking down would reflect your driving skills. Anyway, I live in a small city in Florida and most people are really helpful towards others (as far as i've seen).
thats really nice of them.
ummm... Well, I live in the outskirts of Los Angeles,, People lend me a hand now and then. It is expected to be a good neighbor.. or something close to it.. . Good luck on your car problems... I wish i can afford to buy a new car..ummm.. may be soon but I'm talking about myself too much..... and yes.. new york ... well... RUDE RUDE.....
glad people helped you. I dont wanna be a cynic, but maybe those people felt more inclined to help you because your a pretty face that obviously didnt pose a threat and not because they were nice or anything? Im not sayin there are none out there who would willingly help anyone. From what i've observed, people tend to help others based on appearance. for me, it probably depends where my car breaks. If its the freeway, im better off walking to the closest phone box than waiting for help. poeple in LA, at least my area, just tend to keep to themselves more.
@gsquared
yeah, people around LA keep to themselves most of the time. Luckily, you got some help Mimi and thats great. New York, I don't think you should get me started there.
If I see someone in distress I may stop. I will definitely stop if someone is stuck in the snow, It's fun to pull people out with my truck.. =)
Typically they are on their cell phone, I figure they have help coming then, so I will just keep driving.
Most people here wouldn't help, but you get the occasional nice person. depends what you look like aswell i guess as gsquared said
What a nice country that you are living. I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and I rarely see people stop and help out other when someone have a break down or a car problem. You know what they can do best? Stop and stare then went off like that.
Yep, something like that would never happen here in New York :(
